Emma Renda is a public service and publishing professional with a focus on the strategic planning, development, and implementation of educational initiatives and resources for Nunavut students of all ages. As Director of Resource Services for the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Education, Emma led the development of resources for K-12 schools, including the Inuktut Titiqqiriniq balanced literacy program and other culturally and linguistically relevant materials. As a senior manager, she also supported the execution of mandate items related to the Education Act, Inclusive Education Act, and Inuit Language Protection Act, and was a key collaborator on Education’s COVID-19 crisis response from 2020-22.
During her time as Senior Project Manager at Inhabit Education’s Iqaluit office, Emma managed the development of a wide variety of educational resources and other materials in support of Nunavut’s Education Program. Emma worked closely with clients from a range of government departments, Inuit organizations, and other territorial groups, and collaborated with an exceptional team of Inuit language specialists and educators from across the territory.
Emma has a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University, an MA from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in modern literature, and several years of experience in the Canadian publishing industry as publicist, production coordinator, and editor.
Now living in Victoria, BC, Emma loves life on the Pacific Ocean and spends her time exploring with her dog, cycling (indoors and out), and looking for whales her husband, a marine biologist.
