Jo Aucoin grew up in a small town on the west coast of Newfoundland and attended Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia before moving to Iqaluit, Nunavut, where she started her career in Human Resources (HR). Now a HR professional with over 18 years of experience, Jo has worked for the Government of Nunavut, Government of Alberta, and Edmonton Public Libraries, among others. Jo joined Sivummut in 2019 and has become an essential part of the Sivummut team, supporting Tungasuvvingat Inuit and numerous other clients and helping them to address their needs.
Jo has developed and delivered HR training based on the policies and procedures of a variety of employers. She has trained staff and clients in everything from HR 101 to recruitment processes, performance evaluation, employee relations (for managers), skills recognition, use of HR systems, grievances, and dispute resolution. Jo has also supported the development of performance management systems and recruitment strategies, and conduction of HR program evaluations and organizational reviews and restructuring, among other HR services.
As a certified Vital Smarts trainer, Jo has the ability to provide a full set of training solutions that aid organizations in communication, improved performance, leadership, accountability and influence. This includes the internationally recognized Vital Smarts Crucial Conversations training, which she has delivered to hundreds of staff.
As her spouse is in the military, Jo has lived all across Canada, and currently resides in Kingston, Ontario. When she’s not working, she enjoys baking, reading, traveling and spending time with her two young boys.
